Spurgeon's College

So the big change has come….

As from September I’m working at Spurgeon’s College, as their Director for Continuing Ministerial Development. Basically, running courses [MThs & DMins] for existing ministers, as in-service training.

Big change. Very excited, though also nervous. And already missing people in church here at Westbourne Park Baptist Church – so many close encounters of the spiritual kind.

Precious, precious sisters and brothers. Now I have to find a church to belong to; how will I ever find a family like this one? Moving to South London, the other side of the river, a foreign country. I’ve lived in east and west, but north London. This completes my urban education, undergoing deeper orientation in the southern ends.

And looking forward to learning about teaching, and finding ways to encourage, equip, God’s servants; help to reflect, theologise experience, develop expertise.

Applied theology: real world - thinking the faith, faith seeking understanding, faithful improvisation.

And Preaching: learning theory and practice, spiritual disciplines and relevant communication.

Melding tradition, teachings of the Fathers [and the Mothers], with contemporary culture - urban, multicultural, technological, post-postmodern and post-secular.

But I must now stay close to the source – spiritual reality, worship and prayer
